Troubleshooting
Resolve registration, DNS, hosting, and renewal problems.
I cannot register a name
Check the naming rules and limits. Choose another label if the name is taken or reserved. If you just registered a different subdomain, wait for the one-hour cooldown.
If Create Subdomain is disabled, complete the CAPTCHA. For an expired session, sign in again before retrying.
My GitHub star has not unlocked more slots
Use the repository link from the dashboard notice, star it with your isroot GitHub account, then choose Refresh status. Check the allowance displayed after the refresh. If the refresh fails, sign in again or contact support with the error message.
DNS editing is disabled
Custom nameservers move DNS management to your external provider. Edit records there, or follow Nameservers to return to the defaults.
If the zone has not finished initializing, use Retry setup / migration when offered. Repeated setup failures should be reported to support.
A provider rejects my domain or requests access to isroot.in
Check Provider compatibility and PSL. Your registration controls myproject.isroot.in and names below it. A verification record requested at _vercel.isroot.in, for example, cannot be created in your zone. Contact support with the complete request; changing nameservers does not grant access to the parent.
Cloudflare's standard free zone setup does not support onboarding this delegated subdomain as a separate zone. See external DNS options. For a host that requests CNAME at @, use its documented A-record option, a child name such as www, or an eligible external provider with apex flattening. See Connect a project.
A record is rejected
Check that the name is relative to the selected subdomain, the value matches its type, and TTL is an integer of at least 60. CNAME records cannot coexist with other record types at the same name. MX records require both a hostname and priority.
GitHub Pages asks for a CNAME at @
Your registered address, such as myproject.isroot.in, is the root of its delegated DNS zone. isroot does not allow a DNS CNAME there. Follow the GitHub Pages root-address setup to use GitHub's four A records at @ and save the exact address in the repository's Settings → Pages → Custom domain field.
If GitHub's DNS check fails, check for old A or AAAA values still pointing to another host. A CNAME for www configures only www.myproject.isroot.in; the root needs its own records.
My changes are not visible
First check the selected subdomain and which nameservers are authoritative:
dig myproject.isroot.in NS +short
dig myproject.isroot.in A +short
dig myproject.isroot.in AAAA +shortFor default isroot DNS, you can also query an authoritative server directly:
dig @ns1.nevercode.in myproject.isroot.in A +noall +answerUse your provider's assigned server for custom DNS. If the authoritative answer is correct but other resolvers return an old answer, allow its cached TTL to expire. Nameserver changes can take longer because delegation is also cached.
An empty A answer does not prove failure if you configured only AAAA or a child CNAME. Query the name and type you actually added. On systems without dig, try nslookup myproject.isroot.in.
DNS works, but the website does not
Check that your host lists the exact address on the correct project and has completed ownership verification and certificate issuance. For your own server, check its hostname configuration and whether its HTTP/HTTPS service is reachable. Follow Connect a project.
Renewal fails
Renewal opens in the final 60 days. Check the expiry date and the error shown by the dashboard. Suspended registrations and those beyond their grace deadline need support. If the error says the domain changed, refresh before trying again.
Still stuck?
Send the affected address, exact error, approximate time, and steps you tried to support. A screenshot and relevant DNS output can help; remove private information first.
